About Ms. Krieger and Her Art

Artist Statement: As a society, we expect art to represent the world in the exact way a camera would produce.  We attempt to train our hands to copy exactly what we see.  In my art making, I try to banish those realistic limitations.  I believe in bold, expressive lines with movement in my work.  Lastly, I do not believe in “good” or “bad” art so I create art for pure expression and to build a relationship with the viewer.  Through a unique approach, I hope to bring about change in the ‘bad’ art movement because in some way we are all artists and there should not be any labels for someone’s expression.

Stains. Photo Copy and Food. August 2009.
Every person leaves a stain on us in some way or another. Some people leave bigger stains than others. In this piece I was interested in the idea of expiring and how that is used for speaking of people who have passed. To show the stains that people have left on us I used expired foods and stained my family portrait.

About Ms. Krieger:

I graduated from Bellbrook High School and then attended The Ohio State University for my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Art Education. This is my second year teaching and I love teaching in Miamisburg!

One of the best experiences I have had so far is visiting Europe for a summer. I went with a group of students from OSU and we presented at the International Art Education Conference in Rovaniemi, Finland. I spent time in Finland, Norway, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. When I can I try to pull references from that trip to the art room and projects.

Besides teaching art, I enjoy spending time with my one year old Schnoodle, Maximus.

This year I am incredibly grateful to have a brand new art room! One of the best parts of being an art educator is seeing every student improve throughout the semester and hopefully realizing that art isn't that bad after all : )
