Pinwheels for Peace: The Update!

Earlier this semester we had the chance to express our ideas on peace, equality, tolerance, bigotry, and living in harmony on a pinwheel. We joined the international peace movement and wrote our thoughts about these topics and then visually expressed them on the other side of the pinwheel. We had such a turn out that even Channel 2 News came and did a story on this project! HOW COOL!

Still Life!

Students used viewfinders to find an interesting composition by cropping out other objects. They then built knowledge of value scale by using charcoal and chalk to achieve different shadows and highlights. This was truly a challenging and messy project!

Clay Character Bowls and Ugly Mugs!

Students were able to choose to either sculpt a clay character bowl or an ugly mug. For the clay character bowls students chose a character and sketched it from three different angles on paper. Then the students created a pinch pot as their base and then added appendages later. Those students that chose ugly mugs also had to do three different sketches however they created two pinch pots to create the tall mug shape. Both projects required the students to use acrylic paint on the finished product. Great job!
