Crazy "Cray" Portraits

Students took pictures of themselves using Photobooth on an iPad. They had to distort their face using one of the filters in the program. After printing out their image on a grid students then had to draw another grid on a piece of drawing paper. They then learned about the grid method and were able to copy their photo exactly how it appears. Students learned about shading with pencil to show the shadows and highlights in hopes to make their portraits look more realistic.

Quest for Design

Students chose and circled an interesting design from a magazine. They enlarged the design and re-drew it much larger and paid attention to every detail and the colors in an attempt to make their drawing look identical to the magazine. Students discovered that by blending, mixing and shading colored pencils they can achieve new colors and affects.
